ARN applauds this proposal. It will lead to the improved collection, processing and recycling of end-of-life vehicles in Europe. It is a well-considered proposal that adds a great deal of ambition to the current directive. That said, it is also asking a lot to expect that all parties will be in a position to comply with it. It will not be easy, both here in the Netherlands as well as in other countries. And it is for this reason that ARN is calling for a degree of proportionality, and asking that attention be paid to the required effort relative to the effect that the measures will have. This will create a balanced package of regulations that will be supportable, as well as implementable and verifiable in practice.
