ARN for recycling companies
Companies affiliated with ARN can count on our practical support. We arrange collection from dismantling companies, for example, and subsequent transport to processors. Furthermore, recycling companies benefit from our research into making processes better and more cost-efficient. Read more about what ARN can offer processing companies.

Training and courses

Training and courses
In conjunction with the Innovam training institute, ARN develops training courses for people working in the recycling sector. These courses enable dismantling and recycling employees to keep their knowledge and competences up to scratch.
Monitoring and quality assurance of the car-recycling chain

Monitoring and quality assurance of the car-recycling chain
ARN recognises the importance of quality assurance and of monitoring the recycling processes and their respective links. ARN and our chain partners also monitor processes for sustainability.
Research, innovation and sustainability

Research, innovation and sustainability
Innovation continues to fuel the improvement of car-recycling performance. ARN commissions research into the recycling of new substances and the optimisation of its processes.
Car-recycling results
Car-recycling results
When an end-of-life vehicle is taken to a car-dismantling company, no less than 98.7 per cent, by weight, will be reused, recycled or channelled to another useful application.

In 2021, over 80 importers participated in the collection and recycling scheme of the ARN Management Plan.
Legislation and regulations for recycling batteries
Legislation and regulations for recycling batteries
The “Besluit beheer batterijen en accu’s” (Bbb, battery-management decree) constitutes the Dutch government’s interpretation and implementation of European guidelines for handling batteries. All legal provisions pertaining to the processing of batteries are laid down in it.

The role of ARN
The role of ARN
Together with the affiliated companies in the recycling chain, ARN ensures that at least 95 per cent of an end-of-life vehicle, by weight, is gainfully reused. We help importers by assuming their producer responsibilities.
The assignment
The assignment
ARN has been the driving force behind car recycling in the Netherlands for over 25 years. We facilitate, we report, and we are at the heart of a network of importers, car-dismantling companies, shredding companies and recycling companies.
Sustainability Report

What happens to an end-of-life vehicle?
What happens to an end-of-life vehicle?
An end-of-life vehicle goes through quite a process: being dropped off, dismantled, shredded and the materials are then separated into potential new usage streams
What happens to the batteries?
What happens to the batteries?
The increasing number of electric cars on our roads translates to more and more of their batteries being disposed of. ARN collects both lithium-ion starter batteries and drive batteries.
