ARN in magazine Ondernemersbelang: which market parties are useful for our raw materials?
When you buy a new car, you pay a recycling fee of € 45. What is this money spent on? In the magazine Hét Ondernemersbelang, director of the PST plant Hans van de Greef provided a clear answer to the question: What exactly happens to your old car?
At the end of the day, having passed through all the processes in the PST plant in Tiel, what is left over are plastics, minerals and fibres, which are then offered to the market as the bulk end fraction. “For 2015, we have set ourselves the task of identifying suitable market parties with a useful application for our raw materials. We are in particular in search of a good sales channel for the plastic fraction that is left behind after passing through our new metal recovery line. This fraction contains a relatively high proportion of PVC and chlorine. We are not looking to make a profit, but our continuous aim is of course to further raise our income in order to reduce costs; and that calls for product and process improvement. Over the past few years we have made major steps forward in optimising the processes in our plant, in part made possible thanks to a subsidy awarded to us by the European Life+ programme. The improvements were preceded by an innovative thinking process to identify the best way of separating our material flows even better.”
