Recycling capacity expanded to 38,000 tonnes

During the course of 2013, capacity at the PST facility in Tiel rose considerably. As explained by director Hans van de Greef, “We now have sufficient capacity to process all automotive shredder waste from all Dutch end-of-life vehicles.”

Fulfilling its obligation Van de Greef looked back on the past year with satisfaction. By improving the structure of maintenance and providing training to the operators who work the line, the PST facility succeeded in massively raising capacity in 2013. Van de Greef continued, “We are now at the 38,000-tonne mark. With that capacity, ARN can fulfil its obligation of recycling 95% of all end-of-life vehicles.”

Search continues for investors in Crusca factory

The search for investors to make it possible to open a separate factory for the production of Crusca panels officially began at the start of this year. “We have drawn up a bid book with our business case, on the basis of which PNO Consultants will approach individual entrepreneurs,” commented Van de Greef. “In that way, we hope to find a partner who is willing to take up the challenge of establishing the Crusca factory together with a group of investors.”

About the Crusca factory

The PST facility has perfected the method for producing Crusca panels, and now hopes to manufacture the material on a large scale. The production of panels will initially be focused on the market for bank protection panels – the material that prevents the banks of rivers, ditches and ponds from collapsing. The material most commonly used at present is hardwood planking; Crusca panels are a far more durable and sustainable alternative, and no more expensive. In addition, at the end of their life they can again be recycled. As Van de Greef concluded, “We believe in our ability to sell kilometres of our material to this market and we hope that in the future the panels will also be used for noise abatement screens.”
