CEO ARN announces departure

Arie de Jong today announced his intention to step down from his position as managing director at ARN.

Arie de Jong today announced his intention to step down from his position as managing director at ARN. The precise date of his departure has not yet been announced, but will be during the course of this year. This gives the organisation time to think about a good successor for the position of managing director. The Supervisory Board at ARN Holding and the Board of Directors at Stichting Auto & Recycling wish to express their appreciation to Arie de Jong for his dedicated performance.

Over the past few years, recycling performance has risen while costs have fallen. Arie de Jong made it known that this is a natural moment for him to consider the next step in his career. “ARN has entered a new phase. Over the past 8 years at ARN, of which the past 6 as managing director, I have successfully fulfilled my tasks. The focus is now on maintaining the recycling performance, and therein lies no challenge for me.” It will be made clear over the coming period precisely how and when Arie de Jong will take this next step, all in constructive consultation and harmony with the Supervisory Board at ARN Holding and the Board of Directors of Stichting Auto & Recycling. Until that time, he will continue to work for ARN with his usual total dedication.

“Arie de Jong has made an important contribution,” explained Peter Janssen Chairman of the Board of Supervisory Directors. “As managing director at ARN Holding, he took the lead in developing and implementing a Post Shredder Technology plant in Tiel. This plant processes the final residue from end-of-life vehicles. Following dismantling by dismantling companies and grinding in a shredder, the residue is converted into recovered materials for reuse.”

Since 2015, automotive manufacturers have been required to recycle 95% of end-of-life vehicles, including recovery. In the Netherlands, this target has easily been achieved. All stakeholders in the sector have worked together for years to arrive at a balanced and sustainable system. These parties are proud of the result they have achieved.
