ARN customer Booltink finalist in BOVAG awards
Autobedrijf Booltink based in Leuth ended up in second place in this year’s Car Business of the Year awards. The achievement was announced during the BOVAG Annual Conference on 4 October. The business achieved very high scores in customer satisfaction, service, image and corporate social responsibility. The latter element – CSR – received a major boost over the past twelve months, thanks to collaboration with ARN.
During the first round of the Car Business of the Year contest, ten businesses were nominated on the basis of customer satisfaction. Owner Dorus Booltink explained, “We took part in the contest to show that we are a business that moves with the times, and are confident of a bright future. Via the BOVAG website, our customers were invited to give scores for various categories including service and value for money. Our average score was 9.2, thereby guaranteeing our nomination. A specialist jury of eight representatives from various parts of the industry then selected the eventual three finalists. Our place in the final round was a huge honour, and confirmation that we are on the right track.”
Modern village garage
Booltink is a universal car business, selling both new and second-hand vehicles, and offering car maintenance and repair services. The company has now been in existence for 37 years. In 2009, Dorus Booltink took over the business from his father Jan Booltink, who is still regularly found on the shop floor. “My father grew the business, and it is thanks to him that the same customer base keeps on coming back. Effectively we are a modern village garage. We know 95 per cent of our customers, and offer them the personal attention and time you expect from a village garage. Nonetheless, we move with the times to ensure we remain prepared to face the future. We are not afraid of new technology. To keep up-to-date we regularly send our employees on training courses and keep a close eye on the latest developments in the car world,” continued Dorus Booltink.
Environmentally-friendly and efficient business practice
Since last year, Autobedrijf Booltink has been making use of the services offered by ARN Recycling Services. As Dorus Booltink explained, “This was one of the reasons why BOVAG selected us as finalists. BOVAG attaches considerable importance to corporate social responsibility and our collaboration with ARN Recycling Services means that we ensure the responsible disposal of all our waste materials. We also have a number of attractive campaigns underway. If customers hand in their old tyres to us, and purchase new replacements, they are given a free anti-slip ladder mat. We have also started a campaign to supply rubber play tiles to a new primary school in the region, made from recycled car tyres. Both projects are aimed at promoting recycling.” As well as providing advantages in terms of environmental policy, collaboration with ARN is advantageous in other ways, too. “We have now centralised our waste flow, because it is easier and more cost-efficient than working with a whole group of different parties.”
