About the PST plant
Following an extensive test phase, ARN opened the PST (Post Shredder Technology) plant in Tiel in April 2011. The plant includes a sorting installation in which waste from shredder companies is sorted into multiple fractions. This enables ARN to reclaim valuable raw materials from waste, such as plastics, fibres, minerals and metals like iron, aluminium and copper.
The PST plant is now ISO 14001 certified and all Dutch shredder companies and several foreign companies now supply it with waste. Every week, three shifts process 750,000 kilos. In 2014, this amounts to approximately 30 per cent of all automotive-related shredder waste. This gives ARN a significant share in the total recycling figure of 95.9%.
